About

Seth Kaplan has published essays, stories and poems in a variety of journals, over a period of years. He writes daily as a writer-writer, and also as a practicing attorney. Seth has been writing seriously since AP English with Mr. Crotty at Evanston Township High School, circa a long time ago. Mr. Crotty made him write (and write and write), and he hated it, but as a great teacher does Mr. Crotty forced him to see writing’s importance and subsequently, Seth grew to love it. His first published work with was as a high school senior, if you don’t count the letters home from summer camp.

Seth then played baseball and studied writing at Colgate University, received a master’s from DePaul University and taught writing at the college and high school level before his career change to the law, which did not stop his love of writing, it only altered the focus, the style, and the timing.

Currently, Seth writes and practices law in Evanston, IL, where he is learning to empty nest with his wife, Elizabeth, who is an interior designer and of impeccable taste in all areas. Their daughter Emma is a rising fourth-year at Grinnell College and studying Biology, and their son Jack is a rising second-year at Oberlin College, where he plays varsity soccer and studies Economics.

When not lawyering and writing, Seth coaches baseball, practices yoga, gardens, and cooks.
